Description
SOUTH TRAIL LIQUORS
FINE WINE CELLAR AND CIGAR HUMIDOR
7310 South Tamiami Trail, across from Mattison’s Restaurant
941-927-WINE(9463)
THURSDAY WINE TASTING
5:00pm until 7:00pm
2005 Bouchaine, Chardonnay, Carneros
90 points, Wine Enthusiast
“Nice, dry and complex, a crisp wine with quite a bit of minerality undergirding the fruit and oak. Feels fine and balanced in the mouth, and should take a couple years in the cellar.” — S.H. (9/1/2007)
2005 Bouchaine, Pinot Noir, Carneros
"Bright, lightly saturated ruby with crimson highlights and fairly viscous, this highly-perfumed wine intoxicates the senses with sultry berry-patch, countryside, sea spray, deep forest, scrub, and garrigue notes. It is classic Pinot Noir on the nose and on the palate. Round and smooth, the fruit is ripe, as in height of season raspberries and cherries." Appellation America by Catherine Fallis, August 3, 2007
2006 Flora Springs, Soliloquy, Napa
91 points, Wine Enthusiast
“Soliloquy is a perfect introduction to the wines of Flora Springs. It exemplifies our understanding of tradition, devotion to innovation, and responsibility to our stewardship of over 650 acres of sustainably-farmed vineyards in Napa Valley. In 1989, we crafted the first vintage of Soliloquy in a style still unique to Napa Valley white wine. Following fermentation, the wine is sur-lees aged for seven months in 1800 gallon, sixty-year old, neutral oak, upright barrels. The combination of bright acidity unique to this vineyard site, and the wonderful complexity that comes with the sur-lees aging, creates a long, smooth finish of clean fruit flavors of melon and fig that linger on the palate. The result is a “Soliloquy” in perfect harmony.” Winemaker Notes
2004 Flora Springs, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa
Rating: 91 - Robert Whitley
"If you're looking for a good old classic Napa Valley cabernet - meaning richly layered with dark fruits and spice, and ultra-smooth tannins - at a reasonable price. Flora Springs is just about as good as it gets . . . What's more, the '04 shows plenty of guts and should evolve nicely over the next decade or so if properly cellared."
2005 Hartford Court, Zinfandel, Russian River
92 Points/California's Best of 2007
"Classic varietal scents of sweet berry and cherry. Pretty flavor profile that showcases juicy cherry and cedar sawdust with a nice focus of backing acidity and spice. Tangy on the finish with soft, jammy notes, sweet nuances and balanced tannins." - Wine News, November/December 2007
2005 Hartford Court, Four Hearts Chardonnay
91 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
“The two Chardonnays are both brilliant wines, with the 2006 Chardonnay Four Hearts a multiple-vineyard blend exhibiting loads of tropical fruit, some poached pear, and apple marmalade notes followed by full-bodied flavors with subtle wood, nice, leesy, chewy texture, and a good finish with fresh acidity and depth. It is best drunk in its next several years of life. New winemaker Jeff Mangahas has replaced the talented Mike Sullivan and has turned out a bevy of impressive wines. Hartford Court is undeniably one of the gems in Jess Jackson’s portfolio of boutique wineries.”
