2006 Laboure-Roi, Vallon D’or Pouilly Fuisse, Burgundy, France
Vibrant nose of pineapples and grapefruit and a lovely golden color. Tasty and interesting. Deliciously fruity and spicy, with orange and nutmeg aromas and full flavors of pear, tangerine and honey that keep developing as you sip. Shows the stylish flavors and round texture of oak aging. Drink now.
2005 Laboure-Roi, Puligny Montrachet, Burgundy, France
At first, the nose shows heady buttercream and custard notes; after a few minutes in the glass, the nose opens (and lightens up) to reveal luscious nut and pear aromas underneath. It's dense in the mouth, with luscious green apple, fresh-cut grass, spice and fresh herb flavors. The finish is so long that one reviewer noted that “it just keeps on going," with intoxicating apple, mineral and floral flavors.
2005 Laboure-Roi, Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy, France
Color: Deep ruby/garnet red. Bouquet: Blackberries, spice, licorice, hints of leather. Taste: Pronounced fruit flavors, smooth and round with a firm finish. Serving suggestions: Drink with poultry, especially turkey or coq au vin, red meat, game birds, venison and wild boar, mature cheeses.
2004 Artesa Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
Layered aromatics and flavors of pear, honeydew melon, peach, kiwi and some characteristic box wood. Barrel fermentation provides some creaminess but only a touch of vanilla oak on the after taste. Complex and layered, yet supple and plush with some firm acid. An easy wine to love with food or just friends.
2004 Artesa Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Wonderful ripe cherry, cassis and blackberry fruit is complimented with white pepper, cedar, clove, rosemary and dark chocolate aromas and flavors. An elegant wine with smooth, supple tannins, perfect acid balance and a long, lingering finish. The fruit concentration and the seamless fullness of this wine make it enjoyable now, but the ample tannin structure of this wine will allow it to improve for a decade or more.
