| Ingenuity, Cleveland’s Festival of Art and Technology, will return with a bang for its fifth year in July 2009 at Playhouse Square, Star Plaza and E. 14th Street. After receiving rave reviews in 2008, with over 35,000 people in attendace, this summer’s festival is ramping up to be the best ever. Ingenuity has established a worldwide reputation as a premier festival to perform, exhibit, and be amazed. Each year Ingenuity pushes boundaries and furthers its mission to foster collaboration between art-based and technology-based creative initiatives. Ingenuity has evolved as a model for a new kind of urban festival that entertains, educates, advocates and demonstrates. Interactive artwork and installations, hi-tech displays, live music, dance, opera, and theater, original studio art, and a host of children’s activities are now planned for 2009. Dates July 10-12, 2009. The 2009 Ingenuity Festival “kick-off” will be geared toward attracting the thousands of people who work downtown to an evening of music, art, technology and fun. Festival programming continues throughout Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday, with continuing entertainment, exhibitions, a children’s village and a fabulous evening laser show. Location and Collaboration Downtown Cleveland at Playhouse Square, featuring many of the historic 7 theatres, E. 14th Street, Star Plaza, Idea Center, and a variety of under-utilized storefronts and alleys around Playhouse Square. Expanded and special constituent marketing programs are being developed in concert with the considerable marketing infrastructure of Playhouse Square Center allowing the Ingenuity staff to focus on programming and logistics. Programming World-class artists from across the United States and the world will present original works along with the finest of Northeast Ohio’s performing and visual artists. High technology firms (e.g. NASA) and major colleges and universities from Northeast Ohio and the region will engage attendees with the latest scientific innovations. Attendees have come to expect the unexpected, whether it’s opera in an alley or two people playing “Mindball” by controlling a ball with brainwave activity! |
