On the second Saturday of each August, Valdese holds its annual Waldensian Festival to commemorate the return of the Waldenses from exile in Switzerland to their native valleys in the Cottian Alps of Italy in 1689.  This celebration is mirrored all around the world by other Waldensian communities.  Now, as with the first Valdese celebration held in 1976, we invite you to enjoy the rich heritage and magic of the 34th Annual Historic Valdese Waldensian Festival

Event/Application Rules & Regulations
FESTIVAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.     The exhibitor agrees to set up and be ready by 8:30 a.m. and will maintain the display until the Festival closes at 4:00p.m.
2.     The exhibitor agrees to maintain an exhibit that will not be offensive to other exhibitors or festival patrons.  This includes, but is not limited to: offensive odors (ex. smoke) loud noises (ex. radios or speakers) and structures that might cause injury to others.
3.     The exhibitor agrees that no truck or other vehicle will be in the reserved Festival street section between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00p.m.
4.     The exhibitor agrees to provide his or her own exhibit displays and shelters, if desired, that will not exceed the booth size of 10’x 20’.  Fire Marshall requires Fire Proof Tents and they will be inspected.
5.     The Festival Committee will notify exhibitors of their booth space assignments between July 1, 2008 and July 15, 2008.
6.     The exhibitor agrees to accept the space(s) assigned by the Festival Committee.
7.     The exhibitor agrees that the exhibit fee is non-refundable due to weather, the exhibitor’s decision not to participate, or other causes beyond the control of the Festival Committee.
8.     The exhibitor agrees that the Festival Committee officials have the right to evict exhibitors for any reason they deem necessary to maintain a wholesome Festival.
9.     Food Vendors – The Festival provides grease containers and failure to use them will result in a $100.00 fine and no admittance to the next year’s festival.
10.     ANY ELECTRICAL NEEDS OTHER THAN 110AMP/20VOLT MUST BE WRITTEN IN FOLLOWING SPACE:_________________________________________________

Common Rules Selected: Previous acceptance does not guarantee re-acceptance. Vendors can share a booth. No Refunds or Show Credits. Held Rain or Shine! Trash must be removed from your space to provided receptacles. No Gas Generators. Canopies must be weighted down, no stakes allowed in ground. No Early Packup Allowed. Standard Rules: All work and displays must stay within designated space. No boxes, extra merchandise or debris should be visible. Spot area must be kept clean throughout the event and be left spotless afterwards. No soliciting, approaching patrons, or distribution of advertising material outside of booth area. All vendors must have a state sales tax license. Vendors are responsible for collecting and remitting all sales tax.

Driving Directions
From Interstate 40 East: take exit #111 and continue across the bridge. Proceed on Carolina Avenue approximately two miles until you reach a stop light at Main Street. This puts you in the heart of Historic Downtown Valdese. Go left on Main Street until you reach the Town of Valdese parking lot adjacent to Wachovia Bank. A kiosk with local information and a town map is in the north-western corner of the parking lot.

From Interstate 40 West: take exit #111 and merge onto Flat Gap Road. At the top of the hill, turn right onto Carolina Avenue. Continue approximately two miles until you reach a stop light at Main Street. This puts you in the heart of Historic Downtown Valdese. Go left on Main Street until you reach the Town parking lot adjacent to Wachovia Bank. A kiosk with local information and a town map is in the north-western corner of the parking lot.
