Link Exchange Request

How do I Exchange Links with you?
We would love to exchange links with you!!
When making your request for a return link, include: The URL you want us to link to, the 1 line description of your site, and the heading that you want to be listed under.
Event Listings

How do I change details in or add to my Event Listing?
You can edit your listing at any time by going to the [My Account] page and using the [edit] link near the event listing you wish to edit. To change the date for a new year, you can not edit the old event, you must add a new event. To change the date of an event, you must ask us, only we can edit dates.

How do I search for Events in my area? That are past? That are outside?
Goto the [Events] tab or the [Event Search] option. That will allow you to specify a date range, past or future, and a location, among many other options. The results will be displayed on the next page.

I have a question about an event or I want to sell at your your event.
CraftLister.com is only an Event Directory, we do not put on any events ourselves. If you have a question about an event that is not answered on its event details page, you must contact the event promoter, which has their phone number and address listed on their event details page.

How do I contact the promoter of an event?
Everyone can view the promoter info including name, phone, fax, and address for any evne upcoming within the next few months. Just make sure you are logged-in and view the event details. The Promoter info will be near the bottom of the page, after the event description. A full membership is required to view events passed the next few months.

How do I get my event listed with you?
Promoters can list an unlimited number of events at a time for free. Any event can be upgraded to a number of levals for various fees.
To add an event, login, goto [events], and use the [add] or [copy previous] option. After you enter the info it goes into our database and listings immediatly. So, do an event search of your area to verify that it appears as you want it to.

How do I set up or change the default area for event searches and the weekly email list of events?
On the [My Account] page you will see your account details and an edit link. Enter a central zip code and mile radius. You will then only receive email listings for that area and the home page of CraftLister.com will only show that area as well.

How do you contact a promoter if their phone number and address are invalid, not listed, or not replied to?
Sadly, some event promoters are almost impossible to contact; usually these are NOT the better shows. The only thing you can do is google for other numbers or addresses, call county and state and regional tourism offices (usually they can help), call the venue, call the city it is occurring in, etc. After that, if you cant get info, consider it might not be a big event or might not be happening again this year.

How can a vendor add an event to the list?
Any site user can add events from the [Events] -> [Add an Event] page. There are 2 sets of links on that page, one for you to add your own event, another to add someone elses event. When you add someone elses, you will also get a full free membership!

I have a comment/rating for an event...
For your comment to be seen by the public, you must add the comment to the event listing it pertains to. Sending it to customer service will not get it published. If you had a promoter defraud you, you should leave a comment AND contact customer service with all details. Defraud means collected money for a non-existent event or such, not just that they did no advertising - sadly that happens very often...

How can I turn off Online Applications for my show?
All shows listed on CraftLister.com must accept online applications. This is because of how artists and crafters add a show to their upcoming event list and to their online event managment area. You can require that they also fill out your official one, say this in your event description. When they apply online and with your application, you can let them know the status of their acceptance and if your received their signed app and fee using the [edit] option on their online application. You can now also add the full URL to your own official online applications. So if you have them on your website as a word, pdf, etc file we will show this URL to people that apply! http://www.CraftLister.com/events/applications/help.php

How do I fix the distance to my show? It is not correct.
The distance from your zip code to event locations is calculated from the latitude and longitude of your zip code and the event locations zip code. The only way to change the distance displayed is to use a different zip code for your location or the event.

How do I list events with different contact info?
To have different contact info for different events you need to have more then 1 login account. Each Email/Password login account can have only one set of promoter contact info. So each Event Listing that you need to have unique contact info for needs to be listed by a different login account.

What are Event Comments/Ratings? How do I leave one?
Any Artist or Crafter can leave a comment about a show. Find a show by searching for it from the event search page, especially necessary if you are rating a show that is in the past and not show in the upcoming list. From the event's details page is a link to view and leave comments and ratings. Questions include: Year You are Rating, Expected Sales, Actual Sales, # of Sales, Your Estimated Attendance,
Total # of Times You Have Sold at This Show, # of Spots You Had, Would You Sell at This Show Again, Detailed Opinion of This Show, and number ratings in a few categories.
Full details at: http://www.craftlister.com/events/comments Video tutorial at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOfCqSpSWE4

How do I apply to an event? How do I apply online?
Applying Online and printing the application we generate for you will be sufficient for most shows. To apply online you must have a Crafter account. Then just goto the details page of the event you wish to apply to and use the [Apply Online] link. Some events may also require you to fill out their own official app. Call them if unsure, all phone #s are on file free. Nearly all that don't accept our printed application will just mail you their official one to fill out. Even if you are applying with the official one you should still apply online because: It lets Promoters know you saw their listing here and encourages them to list more events! It will be added to your online event managment area, where you can track the events you applied to, the fees you sent, acceptance status, and MUCH more! You will be listed as one of the Artists/Crafters attending the event. Every listing has an 'Artists/Crafters' tab that lists everyone we know of that will be attending. The event will be added to YOUR Upcoming Event List. This list is displayed to anyone who views your profile and on your CraftLister.com Personal Page.

Why does an event search of one radius return results from a slightly larger area?
To save on database query time, all searches search a square area around the central point. Searching a circular area would involve a more complex query that takes much longer to execute. The square area contains the included circular area plus some extra events beyoned your search radius that would appear in the corner of the square not covered by the circle.

How do Free event listings differ from Paid, Highlighted, or Featured listings?
Free event listings can only be seen a few months in advance by all site users. All details about these events are made available when people look at them, including your contact info, except your web site URL. Full Members can view all events and all details all the time.
Paid listings can always be seen by everyone as soon as you post them and your website URL is shown along with all other details.
Highlighted listings are just like paid listings but with the added benefit of a light yellow background in search results and the weekly email.
Featured listings are just like paid listings but with the added benefit of a yellow box around them in search results and the weekly email and larger name font! Featured listings are viewed and applied to much more often for this simple reason. Picture is show in search results.

How can I find listings for events that have passed?
To search for passed events, goto the Events Seach page, under the Events tab, and enter in the search critera, being sure to include the correct date range that will include it.
All event listings are maintained for history. They are not by default shown in searches because the default starting date is always Today.

Where else can I find event listings? Advertis my own event?
All known online directories: http://www.craftlister.com/text?PageName=Online+Directories

Printed Directories for sale: http://ww.craftlister.com/store/product_search.php?Submit=TRUE&ProductCategoryID=2299

Newspaper Dirctory: http://www.craftlister.com/publications/search.php

Can I copy a prior listing so I do not need to re-enter all the data?
Yes! Goto [Events] > [Add] and on that page there will be a option to add your own event, add someone elses, and a possible 3rd option( if you ever previously listed an even under that account) to copy one of your previous or current listings to a new one. You will then be taken to the event edit page where there are abt 40 questions, make sure you add the new date! All other fields will carry over from what you coppied.

How do I manage my online application and who applied to my event?
On your event details page an on the [My Account] page is a link to [Applications] for each event. From the Applications page, you can approve or decline applicants as well as send them messags through the site for free. Each applicant should be mailing you a copy of their application with payment. Contact them if you do not receive it.

How do I track my sales at events I did?
When you apply online to an event at EventLister.com, you will be able to track number of spots, plan to do again?, total gross sales, number of sales, multiple expense categories, driving time and notes, reminders to self for next year, weather notes and more for each event after its date passes. You should apply online to all events you participate in, even if the event is passed or you applied another way.

How do I print an application? How do I find their mailing address?
When you apply on EventLister.com to an event, you can view or print a copy of the application anytime, by going to the [My Account] page and viewing that particular event application. The application will have their contact details on it. The promoter info is also on the bottom of the event details page.

How can I get more results from my Event Listing?
A standard paid listing with it's included crafter credits are a great start. All site members will be able to see you event as soon as it is posted, we'll show you WHO looked, then you will even be able to mail applications to any of those that you choose to. A 'standard paid listing' can even be had for free, just mention EventLister.com on your site or application and let us know so we can upgrade your listing!
Listing Quality is also important, and a more complete listing will always generate more leads!

How an promoters get their application onto their online event listing?
Please add EventLister.com to your Mailing List.
We will auto add/fix your listing in future years for you automatically.
We will also try to scan your application documents and confirmation packet materials in color and add them to your event listing, though this service is suspended for now - it WILL resume.

Instructions: You SHOULD write our Assigned Event Number near the top, as E######## or as http://www.CraftLister.com/E####### and send to:

111 Sebring Rd,
Dickson City, PA 18519

If we do not already have the event listed, we will create an event listing for you.

What is with the events with Approximate Only Dates?
Many event promoters are not prompt with adding upcoming event listings, but their events have been going on for years and are likely to continue. These events now are automatically re-added as approximate dates so that exhibitors are aware of a show around that time and can contact the promoter to get onto the mailing list.

How can I start selling at shows?
Search our listings, then call promoters of shows you are interested in and ask them to mail you an application. Each promoter & event has very different rules, prices, and product guidelines so you must ask them all questions. Every state requires a sales tax license which you will need to acquire.

Some events have red @ signs in search results. What are they?
These are events carried over from last year and was marked as only anticipated, and NOT confirmed for this year. Any site user can confirm or mark them as not re-occuring.

How do I add a copy of the application to our event listing online?
Each event listing can have jpg images of their application pages uploaded so they will appear on your listing details page using the link on the listing page under options labeled Upload Application. We do not accept DOC or PDF files, as these can contain macro-viruses. You must convert your files to JPG or print then scan them and save the scans as JPGs.

Each event can also have a few URLs. Besides the promoter account asking for a website URL, if you edit any listing, near the top we ask for the event's homepage/mainpage website URL, but under exhibitor questions, we also ask for URLs directly to your application file on your own site. You can use this to link to DOC or PDF files on your own website.

You should also mail us copies of your applications as soon as they are released. Our only address is on the contact page. Add us to your mailing list today! We have scanned received apps for free in the past and will do so again soon, though for right now we are not scanning any applications ourself due to staff constraints. We do still add upcoming listings for any apps received that we do not already have listed.

How can I help confirm event dates or mark an event as not-reoccurring?
If you have a specific event listing you want to confirm or mark as not-reoccurring, search for the event or otherwise goto the event listing on this site. All unconfirmed events have a link on their details page listed as: Add Confirmed Date(s). Clicking that link will take you to a page that will let you update the date as necessary and mark as confirmed with the green Confirmed! button or mark it as not happening and not reoccurring with the red Ended button.

To browse all local unconfirmed events for ones you might know info for, start here: http://www.craftlister.com/events/edit_addto.php?Action=ConfirmDates

For instruction, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg475QL2Jq0

How do I mark an event as canceled?
Edit the event. One of the first questions is Event Canceled. Change it to YES. If the event is no longer going to continue, you also need to edit the event chain and set Will Reoccur to no, otherwise we will re-add the event next year. You can also just delete the current listing, and on the delete sucess page is a link to also mark the event chain as non-roccuring.
Membership / Joining

How do I Join or Renew a Crafter Membership to view more Event Listings?
To Join or Renew, goto the [Join] page and click on a membership plan. You will be walked through the Join process, your card should already be on file if you are renewing, but you may need to update your expiration date. You will receive an email warning a few days before your membership expires and another right when it does. You can renew anytime after your membership expires by going to the [Join] page. The Join page will not let you renew if you already have an active membership plan, it will instead display the expiration date and time of your current plan. Receipts are always available under the [My Account] tab.

Where can I get a receipt?
Under the [My Account] tab, there is a [Printable Receipts] dropdown option. From that page you can view all past purchases and print receipts.

How can I earn FREE membership time?
Ways to earn free Membership Time:

Mailing us Applications for events - http://www.craftlister.com/help/mail_apps

Entering comments or ratings online for events - http://www.craftlister.com/events/comments

Adding Event Listings that we do not already have - http://www.craftlister.com/events/add.php

Adding Missing Information to Event Listings

Referring Friends to the site - http://www.craftlister.com/events/tell_friend.php

If I buy a 2 month plan, what do I see?
The membership plan length refers to how long you will be a will member for. The 2 month, 6 month, and year plan are the same membership abilities. If you buy the 2 month plan, then for 60 days you will be able to see everything on the site; it's not that you will jsut get to see 60 days further out.

Do Site-Admins have to pay for membership?
Site-Admin is a trusted status given to select users, it itself does not have anything to do with full-membership status. Since ANY site user can earn FREE membership time many ways, if a Site-Admin is at-all active and even sporatically adds content to the site, then they will likely never need to pay and yet will always have full-membership status.

I am already a full member but want to buy more time, how can I?
Only non-members or expirees can buy membership plans outright. If you are already a member, you can stll buy a membership gift certificate from the same http://www.CraftLister.com/join/ page and then redeem the certificate yourself immediately, or mail us a check and we'll tack on your newly purchased time to your account for you.
Misc

I want to offer my computer and time to help improve EventLister.com! I read that you have someone helping with clean up and stuff on the site and would like to volunteer some of my time.
The best ways to help are also the ways to earn membership time: http://www.eventlister.com/help/earning_membership (leaving comments for events youve done, mailing apps to us, adding missing event listings, and especially confirming dates, adding missing information, and correcting wrong details...)

Do I need a sales tax license to sell at an event?
Yes, everywhere. Even DE has a reseller liscence, but no sales tax. If you do not have one and are somehow 'caught', chances are you will be fined, but in my 20 years of doing 2 shows per weekend, I have seen inspectors only once or twice. Some promoters request your tax # for their state, despite not being required to do so, this is what you will more likely need to have one for.

Links to all state tax sites here: http://www.craftlister.com/resources/tax_index.php

Why is my account considered low priority just because I have not logged in in a while?
Please take no offense. We simply can't send newsletters weekly to email addresses that have not logged-in for months because we get too many spam complaints then. Receiving the email every week simply requires you to log in a few times a year, sorry. Logging-in is as simple as entering your email and assigned password into our login form, which is required for most site access anyway.

What is a UserName?
UserNames are used to give you a personal website URL with the address of http://www.EventLister.com/YourUserName/ To select or edit your UserName, goto the My Account page and edit your Exhibitor or Promoter profile. UserNames are NOT used to login - your email and password are required for that.

When I try to login, I enter to correct password and do not get any error, but I am taken back to the blank login form.
This is caused by a problem with your web browser. Invalid password attempts will give you a visual error message. The only sure solution is to try another web browser or PC. Sometimes rebootign fixes it. Sorry, no way I can fix as the problem is caused by your browser not returning 'cookie information' given to it at login with subsequent page requests to the site that are needed to validate WHO is asking for said pages... and for you to appear as logged in.

How do you participate in an event as an exhibitor selling goods?
First off, you need a sales tax license/permit for any state, even DE. This is a free application process where you register with the state. http://www.craftlister.com/resources/tax_index.php After you have a permit and have an event sellected, you contact the event promoter directly by mail or phone and ask for an applciation to be mailed to you. You then fill it out, send it back, and wait to hear if you are accepted.

What are Site Admins?
Site Admins are NOT REQURED to DO anything.

Site Admins simply have the ability to edit almost any site content and can see more than non-admins. Admins see edit links on event listings of promoter accounts that they can use to make corrections or additions.

Site Admins do not automatically get a free membership. That is Seperate, but you can earn time instantly for adding an event listing or comment.

Site Usage Question

How can I help?
The top ways to help all also earn membership time and are described here: http://www.eventlister.com/help/earning_membership The main thing we need help with is confirming event dates, it is tedious with 50,000+ events per year. The above page also has videos showing how to do the date confirming.
Access to Crafter Details

How do I get access to the full profile, phone, address, etc of a Crafter or Artist?
To get access to a crafter you use a Crafter Credit on them. Crafter Credits are virtual credits or tokens that can be traded in for access to one artists or one crafters complete information profile. Crafter Credits are earned by trading crafters with us online or can be purchased. When you trade online, you get 2 credits for each crafter you tell us about.

By default, the contact information of crafter and artists is hidden from view. Complete profiles include: address, email address, phone number, craft category, craft description, and more!

Earn Crafter Credits for FREE! Now, when you add crafters to your CraftLister.com account and to a show, you will be given 2 Crafter Credits for each artist/crafter that you add! Essentially, this is trading of Crafter conacts with us at a 2 to 1 ratio.

More info at: http://www.CraftLister.com/crafters/credits/buy.php
or online under [Crafters] -> [Crafter Credits]

How can a Promoter find Exhibitors to mail applications to?
You can handpick crafters by location and category. Start online under the 'Crafters' Tab. The search form will ask for location and category criteria to narrow the results.

Can Everyone see my info? I see it when I look at my own profile!
Every user can see their own info. Often folks do not realize they are still logged in and that the site knows it is showing them their own info, and not showing just anyone their info. Try looking at another users profile, the contact info is hidden, but there is a 'request access to full profile' link that emails them requesting permission for you to see it all.

What are Exhibitor Credits and how are they used?
Exhibitor Credits can be earned by trading contacts with us or purchased online. Each credit allows you access to one of our registered Exhibitors.
When you do an Exhibitor search online and find some that you wish to contact, use your Exhibitor Credits on them with the link provided, then you will have access to their info in a variety of formats from the 'Manage my Exhibitors' page, including call sheet format and mailing label arrangments.
Pictures

How do I add pictures to my Event Listing or my Artist/Crafter Profile?
You can upload photos to our servers or give us URLs to images already on file elsewhere. There is even a photo wizzard for crafters and events that presents you with photos found on your website. Start online under 'My Account'. Crafters will have a 'Manage Photos' option on their profile and events have the same link on their event details page.
Account Types

How do I change my Email Address, Password, or Zip code that is used for the upcoming events in your area email?
Goto the [My Account] overview page, and [edit] your account details.

How do I edit my Crafter Profile Details/Add Photos?
Use the [Edit] link on the [My Account] page. If you have a website address on file, there will also be a link to a photo wizard on that page. That will allow you to select images from your website to be added to your crafter profile.

How do I register as an Artist/Crafter? Why Should I?
From the [My Account] page you can create, edit, or delete your Artist/Crafter account. An Artist/Crafter account allows you to view event listing details, apply to events, contact promoters and more! It's also FREE! More info about all Account types available here: http://www.craftlister.com/my_account/help.php

What is a Craft Expert? How do I sign up as a one?
Craft Experts are CraftLister.com Artists and Crafters that have registered with us to provide content in their area. They can currently only add articles, but other content types are comming soon. To signup as one, or to read or add articles, go here: http://www.craftlister.com/craft_experts/

What is the difference between EventLister.com and CraftLister.com?
Both sites are exactly the same and share the same backend database, so changes made on one site automatically are 'made' to the other. Users see different event categories only depending on their account settings. We started using the EventLister.com name after some art shows complained about not wanting to be listed on 'Craft' site.
Typo Report

What is the red ladybug doing on the site?
It is just a graphic image added by us that you can use as a quick clickable link to report a typo, malfunction, bug, etc. from any page of our site. A 'bug' in computer terminology referes to any undesired and unexpected operation or behavior.
Advertising

How can I advertise to your promoters or exhibitors?
Besides selling exhibitor leads here: http://www.craftlister.com/crafters/search/ we also have started offering banner ads online and in the newsletter. You can target just exhibitors or promoters and can target by select states. Details at: http://www.craftlister.com/ads/info.php
