WAR . DECLARED . ON . HAND-MADE . FRAUD !!!
Site Newsletter - Release Date: 5/4

Please Help Me Round-off the Corners on the site!

About monthly I receive a message about EventLister.com/CraftLister.com of this nature:

“You are taking on more than you should...you shouldn't be bothered getting any bigger than you already are. Your site is already so confusing and needs to be streamlines before getting into another expansion. Grant it we all want a site that is \"user-friendly\" yours is not. Many crafters, correction, the majority of crafters I know are so turned-off by your site as they get lost and can\'t get the information from it they desire so they go elsewhere for their needed information. Again, we all like to say we have a site that is all inclusive and has most of what we are searching for. You can do a better job of it.”

Already, the site wording, layout, or functionality is updated whenever a user inquiry demonstrates that there was a point of factual usage misunderstanding. Rarer are actual requests for a new or improved site-feature.

Needless to say, there must be aspects of the site that I have not yet created an optimal user-interface for. Help me to do so! All users, as they are using the site should let me know whenever a page they are on has a confusing aspect, element, or statement. The red lady bug on the bottom right of every page would be a fast & easy link to contact me about that page in question...

Please send me explicit ways I can 'streamline' or 'simplify' the site. Some examples of what I am asking for:
Long-time-users, think about what you had the most difficulty with.
  What was the most 'confusing'?
  What tripped you up?
What did you misunderstand at first?
What assumptions did you make that did not hold?
What question/topic would you like a Help statement written on?   http://www.craftlister.com/customer_service.php
What wording is not clear, too verbose, etc.?

Alert to the Devious and those children of Deception out there, lurking:

WAR . DECLARED . ON . HAND-MADE . FRAUD  !!!

EventLister.com and I will NOT take on an attitude of 'live and let live' to those perpetrating fraud and thereby bringing down quality events that TRUE hand-made artisans and craftsmen RELY on and to those stealing money out of the pockets of TRUE hand-made artisans and craftsmen and instead sending it to China. Rather, one site goal will now be to take more active efforts to actually cull the herd of buy/sell-tricksters-claiming-hand-made to whatever extent possible from juried-hand-made events. -Louy

Starting Immediately, to combat China-buy/sell at hand-made-only-shows, CraftLister.com and EventLister.com will now be banning/blocking from site usage any exhibitor/vendor who applies to any event fraudulently. Even once, henceforth.

I have no intent to squash retail from appropriate events. This has nothing to do with retail or buy/sell in general, so if you want to think I have something against it overall, go ahead and think so (if you are that incapable of processing the reality of the situation and of my policy ONLY against buy/sell applying fraudulently to stated hand-made only events). Any exhibitor is rightfully entitled to apply truthfully to any event they qualify for. However, if an event application lists minimum exhibitor requirements, and you apply even though you do not meet them – then the deception by you has begun. Your rights end naturally where the wrongs begin.

The NEW POLICY is: If I am notified that any exhibitor applies to any show fraudulently they will be banned from this site and our entire network of syndicate sites. (Not just if you use an app printed from here, but if you apply at all to any event/show, whether we list it or not, and do so fraudulently or under ANY false pretense.)

Fraud includes:
not listing all product categories your will be bringing,
saying you make your item when you don't,
claiming you embellish an item to any degree greater than you actually do,
claiming to use rawer supplies than you actually use,
submitting forged photos or another exhibitor's photos as your own,
any other purposeful & intentional deception, etc.

Taken into consideration will be any false claims not only written on applications but also: verbal lies/claims to promoter, anything false in your Exhibitor Profile information on this site OR any other publicaly available website, web page, publication, advertisement, handout, sign, label, business card, etc. Basically, if it can be demonstrated that you have, after this newsletter is published, in any way made fraudulent claims to get into a hand-made-only event, I will do whatever I can to stop you from continuing to take advantage of the craft industry with those practices..

Currently it will take documented, promoter testimony of your deception to be banned and you will be contacted to refute any charges, but if such is received and you can not or will not prove otherwise then you will be banned/blocked from this site and our entire network of syndicate sites. I am not yet starting a Black-List style rating system on exhibitors, though it may arise in time as conditions require and my business stability permits. I do intend to start to push our FREE Exhibitor Ratings (Certifications)(White-List) more though. Get your rating today, FREE:  http://www.craftlister.com/exhibitor_ratings/ Any promoter can even have us rate any or all of their exhibitors for them for FREE!!!  http://www.craftlister.com/exhibitor_ratings/

Promoters are asked to report offending exhibitors by writing to EventLister.com via snail mail (111 Sebring Rd, Dickson City, PA 18519) and including an explanation of the fraud encountered, photos (print or digital) of the actual setup of the vendor the day of the show, a photocopy of their application and any other documents submitted by them, car license plates, names & photos of people that came the day of the show, and any photos (even if false) sent with their initial application, submitted tax license and ID #s, etc. Any text you writeup, please also send to the online customer service interface so we don't have to re-type:  http://www.CraftLister.com/contact/

Artists and Crafters are also asked to report fraud in the same way and to Encourage the promoters of affected shows to mail us copies of the fraudsters' applications. Reports from artists and crafters will not directly result in another exhibitor being banned, but we will use your info to conduct research with promoters. Artists and Crafters should snail mail us: (111 Sebring Rd, Dickson City, PA 18519) and including an explanation of the fraud encountered, photos (print or digital) of the actual setup of the vendor the day of the show, car license plates, names & photos of people that came the day of the show, lists of JURIED-HAND-MADE-ONLY events (w/ contacts) that you have seen this exhibitor vending at, displayed tax license info and # (no posted tax ID, call the police!), and any other info. Any text you writeup, please also send to the online customer service interface so we don't have to re-type:  http://www.CraftLister.com/contact/

Artists and Crafters are also asked to report fraud in their leaving of their comments/ratings on any events they attend.  http://www.craftlister.com/events/comments You earn full membership time for your comments and help the whole industry identify promoters/events who claim to be juried but are truly not. Promoters would be wise to keep buy-sell out of their own events (how to do so:  http://www.craftlister.com/newsletters/index.php?PageName=View&ID=54 ), lest they get bad reviews and the word spreads of their leniency to buy/sell at claimed juried-hand-made events. Promoters are encouraged to have CraftLister.com Certify for free any exhibitor/applicant they are unsure of:  http://www.craftlister.com/exhibitor_ratings/

Anyone who does not agree to this policy can ask for a refund since I'll gladly refund anyone at anytime on request.

Anyone banned will automatically be given a refund... Anyone banned who attempts to access one of our domains WILL be prosecuted for electronic trespassing.  http://ilt.eff.org/index.php/Trespass_to_Chattels

Thanks & GL!
