( P1 )      MSG is a salt (an ionic molecule made of Sodium and Glutamate). Sodium is the same component of normal table salt that raises blood pressure and increases water retention. Glutamate is a human neurotransmitter.
( P2 )      MSG can not be tasted, or at least most people can not detect it's subtlty. MSG's main effect is it increases the perceived pleasurable taste of food (as does table salt) and has been shown to increase consumption significantly of food products it is added to.
